I make the occasional public post, as you'll see below, but most of my entries are friends only. If you're already on my friends list, then you should be able to start reading the most recent entry below this one

It's new. I was looking for pictures of Beijing using Google images and instead found an image of an old Chinese poster... this is a detail from it. :)
Can I get added to your friends list?rougebynoriMay 24 2004, 14:45:24 UTC
Hi CherylAnn,
I just created a livejournal account. My user name is "rougebynori" and my journal is called "ChinaDreaming". My boyfriend and I taught in China from 2000-2002 and now we live in Portland, OR (like you!). I would love to follow your China adventure because I'm always dreaming about going back to China. I'm new to the whole blog/journal thing though so I don't know the etiquette involved in asking to be added to your friends list so I can get your updates. Hope I did it right...

Hi Nori,
I'd be glad to welcome you to my friends list! Thanks for asking. :) I leave for Beijing at the end of July, and most of the stuff I write about China is going to be posted as public, so you wouldn't miss much (except my day-to-day doings and my personal rants about work) even if you *weren't* on my friends list -- but for fellow Portlanders and fellow China buffs, you're more than welcome! :)
I hope you won't mind me begging you and your boyfriend for the occasional tip about Chinese culture, etc.! :)
If you and your boyfriend would like to meet for coffee sometime before I leave, I'd love to talk to you about your experiences teaching there! I'm considering teaching while I'm there, too, if the whole "embassy" gig doesn't pan out right away! :)

We would love to meet you for coffee and show you our China photo album and answer any questions you have. Also, I have about 20 China blogs bookmarked (most of them western women living in China) and they are invaluable sources of info. I wish I had read more about China before I went. I'd be happy to give you a list of blogs. Also, I'm sure you've heard of Dave's ESL Cafe - go to www.eslcafe.com and click on the "Job Center". Then check out the Job Information Journal and the Job Discussion Forums (they are broken down by country).
PM me at nashl@ohsu.edu and we can make some plans...
