This is the first and only stop motion animation I've ever attempted. We're still fixing up the house and I'm going to grad school in non-fiction writing so I don't have much time for animation.

It's weird but I seem to be doing a lot of karaoke lately. Not in smoky, windowless rooms with the mic turned up to maximum reverb and ten English songs to choose from like in China, but at holiday parties and bars. I like to indulge my inner rock star. That's the answer to the question. I'm going to apply for grad school in creative writing and commit to staying in Portland for at least two more years. I'm quitting my job and taking the month of January off to finish my applications and then I'll work part time or just get loans to get me through my schooling. I feel great about this decision. Well it was all worth it. Our fir floors are richly gleaming expanses of matchless beauty. They are mostly a russet amber color but with darker swirls and patches and some streaks of a lighter honey tone. I'm so excited about actually moving our furniture in to the front rooms. I can't wait to go home and dance in my stocking feet on their glory. ( Read more... )

We spent the weekend sanding our wood floors with a rented drum sander. I'm. So. Sore. We are working so hard because we plan to take the whole month of November off from housework. I can't wait. I'm going to post pics of our finished living room and dining room sometime next week ( Read more... )

I'm exhausted. We worked on the house for three days straight. We ripped up four layers of linoleum and press board in the kitchen, painted the crown moldings in the front rooms, and started stripping the paint off the wood walls and ceiling in the kitchen.
