The most common kind found in the store are super easy 5mins to cook, directions on the package. Pretty much just dump a certain grits to water amount into boiling water, lower heat and let cook for 5mins or until you're happy with them. They can be eaten sweet or savory depending on what you put them with, although I've never personally tried them sweet. Its a great way to add bulk to a meal though and is really versatile depending on what you cook it with.
You should definitely give them a go!

In all honesty, if you have cut meat out that much it could be the sausage. Sausage is always slightly suspect in my book anyways.

Both options really suck, because both things are REALLY TASTY. I'll have to try them both separately I guess and see, but last time I thought it was the grits so that seems to be my default now.(Seriously, I can eat 4 nerd ropes in a row and be fine but a little bit of sausage/grits has me under the table? LAME.)
