So after a few weeks of work at walmart, I get laid off cos sales arent so good esp after black Friday. when i got hired, i knew there was a possibility that us new hires would get laid off in jan, but i didn't think we could get let go before Christmas

Yeah, that's frustrating, being out of work again, but personally, I'm just as well glad you're out of WalMart. I certainly shop there, but working there always seems like the last outpost before offering to wash people's windshields. I realize that makes me a snob!

I do so wish there was a way you could put your engineering skills to use in your area. At least in Oregon there was a shot; I'd hate to think you took those classes and completed the course for nothing. If you can't be a rock star, you should at least be an ENGIN-NEAH!

That IS unusual to get dropped before January!! For one thing, most stores do inventory in January and need the extra help!

Hmmm. Maybe the economy is not as robust as reported.

I am here to tell you that, at least in the midwest, the economy is far from robust. Yes, they're adding jobs, but not jobs anyone wants, or will be kept, for any length of time. Sad.

Yeah, that's what I'm finding too. Living wage jobs are going away, and all that's left are temp jobs and minimum wage jobs.

Places do what Wal-Mart did all the time around here. And then they complain that the one or two people they did keep on aren't dedicated. Why? Where's the impetus?
