I, too, watched this on Hallmark tonight (though it wasn't the first time I'd seen it) but it was the first time my (*non*-slasher!) sister had seen the ep, and during BJ and Hawkeye's touching goodbye scene at the end, she totally yelled at the tv, "Just kiss him already!" This is why I love my sister. Because she sees the slash that is right in front of her even though she is not a fan of it. :)
If MASH were not so slashy I don't think I'd bother watch-- what am I saying? Of course I'd still watch it. But it's so much better this way, ya know?
Man, your commentary totally summed it up. There were many defining moments in that...so much B-eye. (They grab each other through the net at the beach, there's the visit, and then there's the "trying-to-get-BJ-to-say-goodbye" scene.
Hawkeye: What if I was dying? Would you just hold me in your arms and let me die? BJ: You're not dying! You don't even have a cold!
Awww.
And yes, oh, poor Charles with the smashing of the record. Awww...awww...but the most hear wrenching moment for me was when Hawkeye and BJ let go of each other and Hawkeye ran for the chopper, and he saw the note, and the theme music played all slow and sad...I think I was like OH MY GODDDD IT'S OVER. *sob* Awwww. *sigh* Oh, M*A*S*H. So, so good.

So sad. It always depresses me. I am either laughing like Hell through it or sobbing like a baby.
In the spirit of GFA's original airing, I think... I'll go to the bathroom.
<---laughing like Hell right now :P
