It drives me absolutely insane that most Japanese don't have a working comprehension of why a certain kanji with a certain stroke order has a certain meaning. I know this is comparable to us in the english language for other things, but even still ( Read more... )

I wonder if there's shit like this in English.

The only analogy I can draw is that some words are so expressive, and mean a very, very specific thing, whereas people in conversation are more partial to use very generalized words that given different contexts, could mean several things; and then they don't pay attention to the context.

And they wonder why they don't make as much sense as they want to.

That's because you have never looked at kanjis before other than the ones on the special aromatherapy candles and what not.
