Successfully arrived in Tokyo, alive. The flights were pretty terrible. My advice to all of you, which those of you who travel often might already know, is just don't fly Northwest Airlines (I wouldn't have, had I had a choice). I'm moving to Japan one week from today.

Enter panic mode..............now!

Got back at around 7 PM today. Feeling pretty awful, and probably will for some time. But hey, I'm alive, and the doc said the sugery went pretty much perfectly. So at some point, this should be turning into a pretty good thing. Can't really write much more now, will be back later.

So, last night while I was flossing my teeth, a rather large chunk of one of my molars just popped the hell off. I have no idea how or why it happened, but now I'm missing almost half of one of my largest teeth. To add insult to injury, the piece of my tooth flew out of my mouth, ricocheted off the wall, and landed in the toilet. Awesome. I had ( Read more... )

The consulate contacted me today, and gave me my placement: Hiroshima Prefecture! That's a good thing. It was my second choice (most people don't get any of their three choices), and I've heard that it's one of the best prefectures to be in. I went to the hospital yesterday for the last of several diagnostic tests in preparation for surgery next month. The one I had yesterday was called an esophageal manometry test.
