AHHHHHHHHHHH! I am a glutton for punishment. Basically, I am trying to be a healthier me by quitting smoking, dieting and contemplating exercise. I have done a lot of reading about exercise options, but I really, really hate to exercise so all I have done is read about it. Anyone have any suggestions about exercise options that work for lazy ass ( Read more... )

Hey, look who it is!!!

Yeah, as far as exercise goes, I know how you feel. Whenever I stop doing it for awhile, I never really feel like doing it again, except for the odd moment or so at work, when I obviously can't. But once you get going on it, it actually is a good stress reliever. And the more you do it, the more you want to do because you CAN do it (it's a power trip)! Anyway... my suggestion for you is just to walk. Walk a little faster than the moderate stroll. And jam to your music while you do it! You will achieve a nice stress-relieving peace, believe me. Because you will be thinking about absolutely NOTHING but how beautiful it is outside, and how much you love the song you're listening to, etc, etc. I really wish I had the time to do that today, but I have another extremely busy, jam-packed day. Odd since I'm actually DONE with school right now. But the day is even more complicated by my grandparents being here to visit... ugh. Anyway, WALK! I wish you and I lived closer, cause we could so go together!

Me too, you should move to Hart! Not that there's anything here, but it would be nicer for me :) Thanks for the suggestion, I think that's a good start and I will try to motivate myself to get off my ass. Good luck with your grandparents, I know your grandma has a way of pushing your buttons!!

oh dear... what should a person who hates to exercise do for exercise? a riddle that would have puzzled king solomon. my suggestion is to start with exercise videos/dvds so you can do it in the privacy of your home. try something weird like striptease aerobics, tai-funk aerobics, belly-dance basics, hip-hip aerobics... these are all options! they're more fun than boring tae-bo or jane fonda. you love to dance, so pick something that will make you feel like you're doing something you love. seriously, that's the only way you're going to stick with it. and it helps to not have to go to the gym or even leave your house. i have had a gym membership for two of the four years i've lived in chicago and have probably gone a total of 50 times. why? 'cause it's a royal pain in the ass to get there. the harder it is the less likely you'll do it. you're not lazy, you know. you work hard and play hard and have a college degree, for god's sake. i guess the first step is the hardest but once you take it you may never look back. good luck! i'll be ( ... )

Thanks! I really, really appreciate the motivation and support. I was thinking about checking out that Striptease areobics video that Carmen Electra put out. Have you see it? I figure if I'm gonna sweat my ass off, then I might as well learn something useful :)

Hey sweetie! Maybe we should consider getting an MP3 player. Nothing too fancy, just something for walking and such. Maybe that would be a good Mother's Day present for you....
