Sounds like a great trip even if it was "near the bottom". I haven't been to Las Vegas yet this year and I'm beginning to miss it. At least there are plenty of places to get my poker fix around town, although most of them are illegal (any raked game is illegal in Texas).

Yeah, the Bellagio is expensive. I don't think I've ever had a meal there although I once bought a bag of peanuts from the gift shop. Their theme is "expensive". I do really like it, though. It's my favorite casino to just spend time in. I mean it kinda sucks that they don't even look at my player's card for $10 blackjack but other than that I love the atmosphere.

Great series of reports! Thanks for spending the time to write it up.

Aren't there 4 or so casinos around Chicago that have poker? Yeah, they may suck compared to Vegas, but it's still live.

There are three that I know of. I have not been to Trump Indiana yet, but the rake is $5, and if you add tipping a jackpot drop and PAYING for drinks, it just isn't worth the one hour car ride.

I don't like the other two for basically the same reasons.

I am hoping the casino license goes through for Rosemont, and they put in a nice, juicy poker room. There is also talk of an Indian casino opening up in the south burbs, but there always seems to be talk of that.

Thanks for your feedback.

Dont forget the $5 dollar entry fee, $2 parking, $5 beers, and the whiny dealers at Hollywood when someone just leaves a 50 cent tip.

Great Report!! Put me in the mood to book a weekend trip.

It's funny how you can win or lose $200+ pots, and then hem and haw over a $20 dinner.

Yep, it's idiotic, I admit it.

Again, I don't mind paying good money for good quality, but I believe in getting my money's worth.

I'm the same way, I can lose a lot of money gambling and not be phased as long as I feel like I played well or made smart wagers, but immediately afterwards I could go to a baseball game or concert or something, see they're charging $5 for a large soda, and get pissed off.

For the Super Bowl this year, I went with some friends to a private club where they're members, and the club was offering all you can eat and drink for $15 (and it wasn't crap, very good food, imported beer, the works), and even though I ended up losing something like $2000 that day on my prop bets, I felt like I made out for the day for getting such a great deal.

I've spent too much time on the east coast I guess because those prices sound completely reasonable!

NYC Burgers are 10.00 bucks groovinmahoovin May 13 2004, 11:23:42 UTC
I agree...when it NYC a 8.00 burger sounds like a deal. Even Big Nick's on Broadway can run you that with their huge soda drinks. But I think it's the best deal in town...haha!

and Manhattan is even worse! groovinmahoovin May 13 2004, 12:01:19 UTC
The last time I ate at a restaurant in Manhattan, I spent $18 for a soda and hamburger at a Bennigan's/Houlihan's type place, and that was BEFORE tip.
