Why are you reserving your anxiety for SARS? What about "typical" pneumonia? Influenza A and B? West Nile Virus? Car crashes? All happen more often than SARS and are more deadly.

Because I have a history of acute respiratory illness, my immmune system is compromised by radiation treatment and tumor supressing medication, and ever since I was a small chid, I've been extremely susceptible to bronchial illness. And in all those years of coughing and hacking (twice now, I've coughed so hard I've cracked a rib), I always have imagined that something like that will be the thing that kills me someday.

I didn't say it was a rational fear. It's just how I feel, I can't help it.

Yeah, the only confirmed death in the bay area is in my county... in my town.
