everyone's favorite scary person, Mr. Merges has been fired from Carey.

Apparently, he was making lewd, sexual comments to a female student online, and her parents read every word.

Yeah, except... he was just joking around with the student, and she would often e-mail and joke around with him back. It was mutual joking around and from what I hear it wasn't even that lewd- at least not any more than we've heard and tolerated from the man for years.

Not only that but she is devastated that she played any part in getting him fired, though it's not really her fault in any way shape or form.

Merges may have been scary, and I also disagree with most of his student relationship decisions, but he did contribute positively to Carey in many ways, and I'm sure a lot of students will miss him.

wow. thats shocking. granted everyone joked about stuff happening but when something actually happens that just sucks. he did a good job with the newspaper, even if he was a bit of a gossip. he'll be missed. and it sucks for it to have happened the way that it did. :(

even if in that instance the comments went back and forth and were understood as a joke all i have to say is that that man received more than one warning when it came to the way he behaved around students. and im not saying that his comments were disgusting because he was a teacher saying these things about students, if he were a student i would still find his behavior nothing short of disgusting and demeaning. and also, not even dealing with the fact that he made sexual comments, i heard him make comments about someone with a private health problem that he made public as well as saying things about students who would have gotten more money at senior awards night if only the teachers didnt dislike the students personality. im not saying he was evil. but dont feel so bad for him..
