the repetition of certain phrases works SO WELL to make the tone, and infusing the food with love - perfect. [is reduced to pile of whimpering fangirl] jdljsdnkjlb.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've had this idea in my head for awhile but never got around to writing it out until now.
When I'm cooking with my father, he always tells me that when you cook with love, you imagine in your mind's eye the people who are going to eat it. In doing so, you do your best to make it, because that's the only motivation you really need.
What a warmfuzzy secret for Watanuki to be keeping! I always assumed he enjoyed cooking, becuase he's so very good at it (and Japanese cooking, I gather, is very involved and difficult), but this makes a lot of sense. I can see it -- cooking for one is always kind of depressing, but Watanuki would do it properly out of a sense of duty to the lessons he learned, I think, if nothing else.
And then Doumeki (and his very indirect thanks and praise, which I am so happy that Watanuki understands) gave him the love of it back.
Thank you!
I can't believe you wrote all 3 drabbles! Errr... have a drabble request in return? I'm very slow and not very good with drabbles... but if you want...
Ah, the warm fuzzies. That's all I write, apparently. But I'm glad you liked it! I'm so sorry you had to wait so long for all your drabbles but... I feel better that you seem to enjoy them.
Ooh! A drabble for me? You're so kind! I don't want to push you and you're always welcome not to write one (I wasn't planning on a reward or anything when I wrote those for you) but... Let's see... This might be rather odd... Can you write interaction between Doumeki, Watanuki, and Mugetsu. Only this time (you can choose how it's possible) Mugetsu has a humanoid form?
Thank you! I'm so excited. And, don't worry, I'll patiently wait until you're finished. :D
... This is canon in my mind now. Seriously. It suits Watanuki so well that I can't imagine anything else. Food is love. I hate cooking for myself, but when its family and friends and husband I love it.
He had Doumeki Love the repetition of the line, because really, that's what its all about. I would love to see the conversation where the secret's out. Doumeki's reaction. Watanuki blushing and trying to say it without actually saying it and somehow irritated at Doumeki for being interested the the half-confession at all. But of course, Doumeki would understand perfectly, but would only show it in that roundabout way he's so good at.
Like I said - canon. A couple hundred words of perfection. Gah! I am at a loss to expression my affection for this.
Thank you, Vinval! I always love getting comments from you about my work. It's always deep and insightful. It makes me feel like I conquered the WORLD, instead of -you know- just writing a couple hundred words.
When I wrote this piece, I imagined that cooking is alot like knitting a scarf or sweater for a loved one. You don't do it because you have to do it, you do it because you want to. That, as long as you have people who you care about, you're willing to put in the extra effort for them.
I would very much like to write a sequel. *glances at the piles and piles of WIPs* Um... Yes. Hopefully soon. Because who doesn't want to see a blushing, stuttering Watanuki trying to confess his feelings to an impassive Doumeki (who is really gloating inside and dancing a dance of glee)? I know I do.
Thanks for your comment! It makes me happy that I actually stick to canon. I was worried that my fluff overload might make Doumeki and/or Watanuki seem OOC. I'm glad that's not the case. :D

That's true. I will take that to heart, because my cooking is definitely not up to speed. Your father is wise.
