[Stalk stalk stalk. Because this is about as close to eavesdropping as Caesar will ever get. :|b]

[He knows that you're staaalking, Caesar. 8| If you weren't, you'd be a terrible Silverberg.]

[Then he will stalk with no shame! It's in his blood.]

[You're so predictable. :(]

I know you're there, Caesar.

More so what support you and those from your world can provide.

[She grows wary at that.]

What do you mean?

There are several here from your world, are there not? Young, perhaps, but I have seen a few bearing weapons or practicing. I presumed you were of authority amongst them.

We haven't yet been introduced, but you can consider me another point of contact for Sigmund's group. My name is Eugene.

Do you have any information about the situation that you consider crucial?

I believe our meeting is long overdue, Sir Eugene. I am Albert Silverberg, a strategist in my own world.

We haven't been provided much information, unfortunately. What we can surmise from the recording is that the intruders will be coming from the east, they most likely have the capability of flight, and they could have very strong magic -- similar, or stronger, than what some of us saw several months ago.

It likely is. I am not a strategist by career, though I have been Sigmund's out of necessity. I would hope that between us we can prevent anything unfortunate.

That is little information. I've seen some talk of scouting parties, but I would consider setting those with the strongest senses on watch shifts at the perimeter of the village. Does this sound like a worthwhile idea to you?

That is certainly what we aim for. There are so many unknowns that sometimes the odds seem stacked against us.

I would not want the patrols going very far at all, considering our current alert state. So if they remain at the perimeter, it is all that much better for safety.

[Forgive him, he doesn't have the best grasp of the situation.]

What really happened? What's going on?

[Nooot a problem. It's not an extremely clear situation.]

We have incoming enemies from the east. We don't know yet how effective our initial defenses will be, so we are taking precautions.

Who are they?

We don't know who they are. [Not for certain, anyway. And no one's giving them a name, dang it.] But we have every reason to believe they intend to do to us what they did to that person in the recording.

What about the woods? You think it's dangerous out there?

Chances are, it's dangerous everywhere.

At the same time, hysteria's not going to do anyone any good.

Including the village.

No matter where we go we're practically sitting ducks.

That does seem to be the point.
