The point I was making was that System is blatantly liberal and it doesn't make sense to me how one can listen to them if they don't agree with those views.
You don't have to agree with the lyrics to listen to it. Maybe your friend thinks that it's just musically good. For instance, I used to listen to Slipknot back in the day. Did I really agree with their constant need to use profanity and say they wanna kill people? No. But did I think that it was musically well written? (given that it was was a sort of "death metal/industrial" thing) Sure. I enjoyed listening to what they came up with, and while it would seem like a bunch of garbage to most people, their earlier CD's struck out to me as just well-writen music, despite the lyrics.
That makes sense. I do feel that System and Slipknot kinda aren't on the same level. I mean I doubt most Slipknot listeners listen for the lyrics anyway, like I don't think those boys are like "what kind of message can we convey through our lyrics?" you know? And as for System, I feel like when lyrics have a meaning like that, the emphasis is on the message. Does that make sense? Like I think the same way about Toby Keith and "The Taliban Song". oh geez.
Anyway it's whatev. I do understand what you're saying. I think it's diff for diff artists though.

Whether or not im Liberal or Conservative is not the point here. I agree with you whole heartedly (sp) on the whole marriage and gay rights thing. I dont have a problem with gay people at all, I dont know that many, but the few I do are awesome. Like this guy Jared I worked with last summer.. wait both Jareds were gay, but that's not the point, the one I worked with and got to know was uber awesome. And if I'd just been like "omg you like guys, i can't talk to you" I would have missed out on great people. But like the abortion thing, I dont disagree with it to be degrading to women at all. I just :shrugs: i can't bring myself to think it's okay to kill a baby. Becuase I do think that it is a child a life mind you from the second its concieved. Like yeah rape, incest, and life threatening situations, i'm fine with it, but I just can't bear to think of a life being taken away with no say at all. I would rather (when i have the money mind you) pay an extra 72 dollars a day (thats the amount it cost per day to raise a child) and have the

Megan there isn't much to agree or disagree about the WAY animals are slaughtered...I mean it is what it is. We CAN disagree on whether we think it's right or wrong

I understand all of your points, and they make perfect sence... but :shrugs: i still can't make it seem okay to myself to just go and do it. Like one of my best friends wouldn't be here today if her mom had taken the advice of the dr. and gotten an abortion. And I know, I wouldn't miss her if she'd never been born but still. Like its not so much of an issue that like I wouldn't talk to people if they were pro-choise, thats insanely dumb. And yes your right most conservatives are uptight rednecks (my words not yours) and stuck in their mindless ways. I dont really think I can be affiliated with a 'liberal' or 'conservative' point of view. And I think that's part of the problem. Well, it's becoming less of a problem with the increase of the 'independant' party and all, but part of the problem was people picking a side one way or another. Like (esp more with republicans) they tend to agree with a few points on the party platform and then they say they agree with the rest, and then it happends that they do start believeing that for
