Loving family of 4 in Bristol CT seek a rescue pup to give a forever home to.
Mom works from home, as does Dad and kids are home schooled - there is always someone here. We used to have a Brittany, but she had a heart problem from birth, and a year after her passing we are now considering adopting a new dog ( Read more... )

I love you. And I see where you're coming from. But this reads as super snarky. The first 2 paragraphs are great. You can even leave the 3rd one in. But the combination of the whole thing just comes across as ... harsh. Even though we here all know why.

oh that's not what I actually would post... but you have to agree that some of these rescues go after prospective adopters as if they were researching for top secret clearance...

You know, I just realized something. I've never gone out and bought an animal larger than a guinea pig.

And we never really bought the guinea pigs either. We got them at a flea market. Every single animal we've ever had has been a rescue of some kind.

That kinda makes me feel good now. Considering how sucky my life has been the past few months. That helps a lot.

Our baby boy is a rescue - they took the information on our vet and previous pet experiences on the application form, which also asked us to assure them that "except for under extreme emergency type situations the dog would never be crated for longer than 8-9 hours at a time"... The adoption fee was under $200, which helps the rescue organization cover costs to spay/neuter and do medical necessities when they take in new animals (Tobisan for example had fleas and Kennel Cough when they picked him up from Animal Control, which required medical treatment) - base on all my research that $200 number is pretty uniform for rescue organizations.

The only consistently available, and less expensive method I've found for animal adoption is going to your local pound - and some times it requires a number of trips to see what's there before you find THE doggie. Private adoption works too, but it's pretty hit and miss as far as opportunity goes.

Agreed on all counts. We paid $250 for Mina and I was happy to have done it. Shelters and foster organizations need the money. I also submitted to vet recommendations, personal recommendations, and a home visit. Again, happy to do it ( ... )

Oh I've paid 250 to a rescue - and had no problem doing so. We've got some rescues up here however that actually have large feels of over 500USD to 'adopt' a animal - and their inspections are very invasive.

this was mostly me venting. The right dog will come along for our family. I have faith.
