I think Dumbledore's death will end the Death Eaters' doubts about Snape's loyalties.

It's all in the potion Dumbledore drank. Quite possibly, it was deadly. But when they got back to Hogwart's, no one knew that Dumbledore was very weakened (and possibly dying). And he specifically asked for Snape.

Dumbledore knew he was dying one way or another. And his death will solidify Voldemort's trust in Snape.

As for the Avada Kedavra?

The argument Snape and Dumbledore had tha Hagrid mentioned. It's possible that it was Snape didn't want to curse Dumbledore, but he'd already agreed to it.

Flash forward to Dumbledore pleading with Snape before he gets killed. It was him asking Snape to do what they agreed on. And Snape did it.

Notice how angry Snape was when Harry called him a coward? Snape knows that what he just did was not cowardice. It took every ounce of Snape's courage and loyalty to Dumbledore to follow his orders and hex his friend with the killing curse.

Yeah, I think Snape's still a good guy.

I had thoughts along a similar line myself.

Up to this point we've been led to despise Snape as Harry does. A few rare instances have been shown that have made you feel sorry for the guy. Then he kills Dumbledore which causes fans to be jerked the other way.

He'll probably do something in the last book (where he'll probably end up dieing) that redeems himself somewhat. Probably something will happen similarly with Malfoy too (as they've got this unbreakable vow between them now, or at least on Snapes end) Though Malfoy probably wont die.

2. Yeah what is it with Slytherin... I mean the books make it out that everyone from slytherin house are all bitter and nasty... Honestly there's got to be some decent Slytherin pupils ( ... )

I think Rowling was really enjoying remind everyone that the kids are -seventeen- now. She's done this throughout most of the books, really. Since book four, anyhow. She keeps throwing things in (somewhat craftily, so it's not horribly jarring) that seem out of character for the kids. And all of it seems to be on the premise that the kids are 'a year older now'. Harry's single-minded anal retentiveness in book five, for example. Anyway, the point of book six is obviously the snogging. I hope that now that she's satisfied all the romantic-ness she was obligated to write, she'll concentrate on the plot more in the next book.

Luna needed more screentime. But at least Ginny was wholly amusing!
