Decade in Review

Dec 27, 2009 22:41

Everyone else seems to be doing it, so I'll give it a shot. Because my memory is crap, with a lot of this stuff I'm just taking my best guess when exactly it happened. But still, you get the idea:

Holy shit there is a lot under this cut, but then again it is a decade in review, so what the fuck do you expect? )

life, progress, things past, religion, hermes, me

very interesting!

I got into paganism roughly the same time as you did. :-)

And haven't you said you were on the Beliefnet boards early, too? That was the first place I found (though I was never on myself, I just read them). I can't say for certain I remember you from there or not, most of the names I do remember from back then I don't remember for the right reasons. O.o

Well I'll tell you a few things about that you might find amusing. But I'm going to e-mail you because they are not for public consumption.

Lots of change in the past ten years! But it seems like you're steadily moving in a much better direction.

Yeah, especially when its all spelled out like this. Even in spite of the occasional bumps in the road, it has been getting better with each passing year.

So much in a decade. But, gods, the kittens. :o( Heh, all that, *all* that, and that's where I'm stuck at. We had some pet loses too, and kittens are hard, but . . gah. I've a boss who lost a bunch of her cats during the food contamination crap, and I'm so, so, so thankful that never affected us. I'm not sure what I'd do.

Yeah, that was rough. I tried to save the one I could actually touch, but by the time I got him to a vet he was hemorrhaging blood from his nose and there wasn't anything else I could do. First time ever personally had to put an animal down, it sucks I had to start with a kitten. I do hope I don't have to deal with that again (though if I do I won't waste any time, I'd grab the kitten that let me get that close, get him off the streets and try to find him a home before anything can happen).

Sorry, I know, so depressing. Hug my cats tight and be glad that I was able to save them. :-)

Kitten death is hard. It doesn't help that they've got such a high mortality rate. We went through some with our litters, and with Neech's siblings -- half of them succumbed to the distemper that killed their mum (and oh do I wish I had a video of her last days to send to the fuckers who dumped her on the fucking street, asshole worthless pieces of shit). Approaching it intellectually, you'd think that it'd be, if not easy, certainly less hard, because you've known them a shorter amount of time. Except, well, babies. I have strong feelings about babies of any species having to be ill or dying. I don't like it. Putting Angel down sucked -- still sucks, I miss that dog -- but, he was also at least 14, possibly older, probably older, and he had a good life. He was SUPPOSED to be immortal, but what can you do?

Gah. Going for snuggles now.
