Astrology

I may have to rethink my its full of crap position on astrology. Maybe my biggest problem with it was not knowing where to look.

I had my chart done by a friend, just to see if the actual breathing human working on it made a difference. And I got to ask the question what is it that makes me nothing like, and in many ways exactly opposite, of what ( Read more... )

Having a full chart done properly by someone is very different to getting one done online, or looking at sunsign astrology (which is mostly bullshit). I am also nothing like my sun-sign (Sagittarius), and much more like my ascendant and moon sign, which is normal for people who have been abused and tend to live through their moon afterwards rather than their sun.

But an astrology chart predicted - without me saying anything to the astrology - the occurence of abuse, my fascination with the occult and the spiritual, and my problems with emotional expression.

It's interesting stuff.

That I never heard before, and that could explain a lot.

My moon is in Leo, and as far as that goes ... well, really depends on where you look it seems, and how you want to interpret things. A lot of people trumpet the typical Leo traits, the vain extrovert that needs to be the center of attention, and that is most definitely not what I am. Of course some people, including my reader, think a Leo moon is a more behind the scenes type, which does change the picture and make some things a lot more accurate.

Apparently my chart is of a deeply spiritual, magically oriented, angry and vengeful, non conformist weirdo. That is definitely not what I was getting off the web sites (they kept trying to tell me I was conservative, conformist, materialistic, loves pretty things, crap like that). An actual reader really does make a difference.

*nods* I still take it with a grain of salt myself, but after a while after my first professional reading, I got really into professional astrology. But all those charts. Ugh.

You're probably a Serpentarius-Scorpio-ish, then.

Ambitious, having desires, and the desire to act on them?

... and Hermes is the god of astrology in any case. :-) Have fun with this if you choose to persue it.

It has become a lot more interesting now that I'm getting something more than the occasional accurate trait that odds guarantee will be there if you make a list long enough of them. :-)

Yeah, that's my problem with popular astrology as well.

I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts as you delve further into this.

Thanks. I really wasn't interested in learning it too deeply (I think I might have worded things poorly there), just looking into a few things that seemed to fit a little bit better with some new information.

But if I do want to look further into my chart than what I was given, I will keep those sites in mind.

Also, love the icon. :-)

*chuckle* Yes, I've found that taking a look at someone's rising sign can often be a better/more helpful indicator for their personality as well. I'm a Leo Rising/Cancer Sun-sign, and I find the latter to only have become more apparent/relevant in later years and once I've gotten to know myself better. I also find that my Moon in Virgo is very self-descriptive.

I've been finding the more I get to know myself, and the more comfortable I am in letting my personality express itself, the less like my sun sign I am. Which is okay by me really, I hope I never become as boring as description says I should be. :-)

Eh, I don't worry about it too much. I do find it interesting that someone can show me how several planets and such converged to make me the anti-Taurus, but I continue to maintain that people aren't written in stone like that.

Astrology confuses me. I *still* don't know what's meant by rising signs and whatnot. I'm a fairly typical Aquarius though, so in my case it probably doesn't matter too much. :)

If it helps you to understand more about yourself, though, then that's just awesome. :D

Oh and by the way, I saw this blog post on Pagan Godspell and thought it might interest you.

Well, that looks familiar! I had found the very short lived blog that was originally posted in earlier in the year, when it disappeared I regretted I didn't copy those words down somewhere because I loved what she said there. Thanks for pointing it out. :-)

Heh, well I saw it and immediately thought of you, so I thought I,d just point it out!

Also, to add to my somewhat Hermes day, I've just passed a delivery van which had on its side: 'Hermes: Makes Delivery Easy!'

:)
