Company coming after Xmas, so I need to do some repairs, organization and cleanup around the place. A few parts to purchase to get started, one arrived yesterday which should get me solar-heated water again. But only after soldering and removal/re-installation of the circuit board

When we went hiking in the Fells a month or so ago, M found a tick on a dog we were both petting while his person was trying to tell us where not to pet him because he had anti-critter goo on him. It didn't work. Pulled the tick off. I thought it was too late in the season but the weather disagreed with me. Ugh.

I don't know of a long-term medication/pesticide which is a) safe for cats and b) reliable against ticks. I've heard claims about dog products but even then they take a while to work on new insect arrivals (if they didn't, they would probably also be bad for the dog and everything else).
