Sat down with my boss today and he told me that he'd hire me back anytime over the next year or two, if the cop thing doesn't work out. I don't really think that's going to be a problem, but it's still gratifying to get an offer like that.

I'm really going to miss that place.

Well I have to admit, Chicago is an awesome city. I always maintained a certain (ignorant) disregard for this town, since it's kinda of in the Midwest, but I was definitely wrong about that. Chicago is it's own region.

And holy crap the food.

Good: going out on Sunday and riding a bike for 25 miles.

Today I ran three miles in 30 minutes. My high-school-cross-country-running self would have scoffed at that time, but this is the first time I've run three miles at once since.. well, since high school.

Then I rode my bike another three miles to work and three more back. Die, chub, die!

So as you definitely do not know, I have been in the process of applying for the Police Department over the course of the last five months. Man my daughter really really hates daylight savings time. It's just one hour, and she's two.. you wouldn't think she'd notice. But oh man, you mess with that girl's sleep and you will rue it. Oh will you rue it.

There's gonna be ruing is what I'm saying.

Your whole lives are about to change, but in such a good way.. I can't even describe it. I'm so happy for you!

I still haven't gotten anything for the wife, but I know she's gonna love what she does get, once Emily and I make it. It's shameless, really, trading on my daughter's cuteness to sell a handmade gift. Too bad, wife! You are helpless before her!
