I'm trying a WoD game, Cajun Nights. I'm just finishing chargen now. I can report that chargen is vaguely broken, one system currently being replaced with a different one, and the changeover is not complete. But I got through it in about 4 days without being told "No, you can't have that" even once. I was suggested to use *this* instead of *that*, as it better suited my character, and was thankful for it.
I'll get back to you on whether it's a fun place to play. I don't know yet, not allowed out of chargen until approved.
That does not at all sound like the game I played. Not even a little. Perhaps it's perception; perhaps things have drastically changed in a year, but I'm startled by the possibility that it could have changed so much.
That said, I am not playing because I have a child and extraordinarily limited time - but I still have online contact with the friends I've made. It's not at all a cutoff.
I will not rule out entirely that it is perhaps only *my* ideas that are not wanted. However, as I have spoken to others who feel the same way, and who are similarly fading off the game as I am doing, I doubt it is *only* me

I heard another two names today of people who are 'struggling' with the game. I had someone tell me (a few days ago) they're jealous of all the RP I get. That's ironic, considering I haven't played a handful of times in the past 3 weeks. I wonder how extensive the frustration really is, what core of players truly work well within the current system. I'm going to bet that the truly happy within the core of players are fewer than 10 people. Depending on how many of those characters I'm thinking of may be alts...it may be less than 7 people

This is all kind of sad to me because I keep thinking of getting out of the ridiculous exercise of trying to RP in WoW and back into MUSHing.
Why I'm not making the leap:
a) Still very invested in various characters, though my dwindling play opps due to poor health are making that fade. b) I can't play it on a laptop so it is something that will get me out of bed on days when I am feeling almost but not quite too bad to get out of bed. Yes, MMOs are actually good for my health. c) It feels like MUSHes tend to stagnate or fail after a couple of years and you have to find a new one. WoW RP has constant irritating issues but the longevity is better because the world doesn't go away. So it's... a steadier bad instead of the boom/bust cycle of MUShes.

The premise you are working under seems to be that ideas are not wanted. That's the part that startles me.
