Wednesday was the day of my talk so I woke up a little nervous, still sleep deprived from staying up late at the Google party. My German friend Matt was giving his talk at 11am and his laptop (intel macbook) just stopped turning on the day before for no conceivable reason, so I had to install open office impress so he could show his slides. The reprap looks pretty awesome conceptually, though be warned the deposition rate's only 7cm3 per hour at the moment.

Poking around their site, I'm liking the idea of a simpler system involving a turntable that lowers as it turns. That way the deposition head only needs one axis of movement. The controller boards look pretty handy though.

reprap... when i was reading you talking about it... i got about a half second of joy... followed by the legal issues that will jump up from this are too great to imagine fear.

All I can say is amazing! If only we could get it to make fossil fuels to make the plastic! Problem solved.
