Time off in lieu if we spend more than a couple of hours working on something. We're pretty much "on call" whenever we're out of the office, but are quite able to tell 'em to sod off if we're busy.

Cheers, all.

The "On Call" thing is a little different to just answering phonecalls or responding to Email, as it requires the on call person to be sober and near work at all times; effectively being in a mobile phone blackspot while on-call is a disciplinary offence. Cinemas, theatres & train journeys are all right out.

Still, The Gibbon has sympathy for everyone who works overtime for free. Much of The Gibbon's overtime is also unpaid. The price of a "professional" level job seems to be high expectations for no additional reward.

thanks wimble - if Sky had your on-call policy, The Gibbon would be paid about £15K more per year.
