for the non-locals, seattle is in the middle of a full-on heat wave. like heat and stagnant air warnings from the weather service. its hot enough to drain most of your motivation, and near any amount of exertion, like walking five blocks to your friends house at an easy pace is likely to leave you dripping in sweat. almost everyone I know. there ( Read more... )

I still need to bring a jacket to work because the 150 bus has had the AC turned to like 42 degrees since mid-June. But, yeah, I can't complain about the heat because a warm and sunny Seattle is a rare and beautiful thing.

I am laughing because my son is there this week and it's the hottest week you guys have had.

Also, this: "its hot enough to drain most of your motivation, and near any amount of exertion, like walking five blocks to your friends house at an easy pace is likely to leave you dripping in sweat."

Try that, but for 3 months straight, and change 5 blocks to half a block and you have Phoenix in a nutshell. I guess the only think that can be said is that we do, for the most part, have air conditioning everywhere.

Good luck surviving the heat wave. ;) Sticking Popsicles down your shorts works pretty well in the absence of a/c.

yes, I remember Phoenix and it was "hot enough for me". I actually don't understand how people live there, and I would probably complain about the heat at the drop of a hat if I did.

also, deserts get cold at night so it's lose/lose for me

also, I got seriously confused about who this comment was from for a second :) hi!

Oh, and I do. People hate me in the summer time. I never shut up about it.

Actually this year may be the first year I have lived here that I have not constantly complained about the heat all summer long.
(This may be due to the fact that I now date someone who complains about it more than me, and I finally figured out how annoying it is.)

What I hate the most is when people say "This is how we pay for our wonderful weather the rest of the year." Like it's a penance or something. I want to punch those people in the face.

funny cause Seattle people say almost the same thing, but instead it's more like "our wonderful summers make up for how crappy it is the rest of the year." obviously i need to become a snowbird

My mom said it's supposed to be 98 there tomorrow, which is HOT. How humid is it? I have to say, I enjoyed the high 80s-low 90s when I was there through the 4th, and I'm normally one of those locals who wilts in the heat and LIKES the grey.

Enjoy it for me. My new high desert home is so high it doesn't often get above 80.
