Doesn't sound like I missed much today then. Jess and I went to the Oregon Handmade Bicycle Show a few years ago, it might have been its first year. It was full of beautiful bikes, but was pretty much an eye candy only show since I had no intentions and no money to buy any of them.
Someday I'd like a hand built bike, but I can't decide what I'd want. I actually have a nice hand built cross frame I scored off craigslist but its just barely too tall for me to ride comfortably. First fall or sloppy dismount during a cross race and I'd probably rack my junk. If you need another project and can ride a 58cm with the stand over height closer to a 60 or 62 let me know. Right now its just gathering dust in my messy garage.
very interesting. 58 is about exactly what I ride and my current bike is already a cross frame so i'm used to the tall standover. I've kind of been thinking about building another bike.
http://greenbits.net/~rlotz/images/craigslist/ - the images titled cx_frame* and frame* are the photos. I really just want the frame to have a home, I haven't had a luck reselling it (I'm also lazy wrt craigslist). Come by sometime and check it out. I can throw some 700c wheels into the frame so you can test standover.
The frame was made by Dan Wynn, a local builder who I think works at REI corp now. I don't know much else about it.
