What is that?

That is a junction of 4 DNA strands (hence the four colors). It's not quite a Holliday junction, but similar. And I think it looks cool.

Do you need us to bring anything? What do we need?

Depending on when you get there and what the sleeping arrangements look like, you may need to come prepared to sleep on the floor (or outside on the deck). So a sleeping bad or pad, a pillow, blankets, etc. Other than that, just bring yourself ready for fun at the beach!

That has got to be one of the most beautiful icons of St. Christopher. It suits you well.

God is gracious! It was a gift from my godparents upon my chrismation. I've spent quite a lot of time contemplating it. When I was born a calligrapher friend of my parents gave them a piece of calligraphy with my name, its meaning (Christ-bearer), and a verse from Luke - "If any man would be my disciple, he must take up his cross daily and follow me." And so to have an icon of my patron, the "Holy and Great Martyr," holding a cross and bearing Christ is sort of a continuation/culmination of that.

Thank you! I have taken your suggestion. The previous icon was derived from a picture of my icon corner, and the lighting was less than ideal.
