Is it irony that, having recorded a podcast for Choice today about smoke alarms, I should leave the roasting eggplant and capsicum a bit too long in the oven and turn them into flaming, smoky wreckage?
What a waste of good veggies. Oh, well, the rest of the dinner is fine, and hey, there's always wine! And ice cream. -

It's all Georgian to me
I just had a comment on one of my YouTube videos... in Georgian! Took me quite a while to even figure out what language it was. Several attempts at using online translation have failed; anyone know what "nu atrakebt raa... " means? -

I saw The Road tonight. If you've read the book, you'll know what to expect, because the movie is a very faithful adaptation. Donut peach!
Yesterday I saw a thing I've never seen before. So I ate it.
Don't be alarmed, dear reader. The thing was a new(ish) variety of peach, the Donut Peach. It's smaller than most standard peaches and rather flat, so it looks kind of like a donut. The flesh is pale greenish white and really delicious. Get some into you!

Zombieland
Zombieland is a real hoot! Sometimes scary, often violent, with an authentic bunch of characters, some touching moments, but most of all: very, very funny. Not since Shaun of the Dead has the zombie apocalypse been so well milked for laughs. In fact I think Zombieland might even do it better, though in a rather different style.
