WOW, I am not sure how I found you, but this post was touching!!! We were born the same year, but I don't tell anyone.LOL You grew up in an era that everything is/was hush-hush. Your mom probably wants to help you but is clueless. If you went to her privately you might be surprised how responsive she might be to your needs. Also, you worry too much about how they are thinking and you don't want to shake the rattle, but you need to before you explode. Your family needs to know that it is not over and never will be. They must understand that you have to live with this forever, and you refuse to be silent. I wouldn't do this at a family gathering, like Christmas, but I would open up to them even if it is one-on-one. Damn you have a long road ahead of you, but you are on the right track. Good luck!! Thanks. i have been trying to explain a little bit at a time to them and it seems to be helping. Keeping stuff from them made it worse because they didnt know how bad it had gotten. One day at a time. Thats my motto these days.
