I just haven't gotten into the LJ habit, I suppose. I occasionally compose a post in my head that never actually makes it to the posting page. But wow, it's been months. Some random stuff follows

Aw, poor kitty. This is completely off the top of my head, but from the symptoms you describe (aside from the toenails, which have me completely befuddled), it sounds like some kind of a parasite. Has he been tested for the usual suspects?
The usual suspects, but nothing unusual. I'm ranking parasites or anything contagious pretty far down the list, though, because the rest of the tribe is healthy and happy, all round bellies and soft shiny coats.
Sorry to hear Bailey the cat has been sick. It may take a while for him to pick up condition if his thyroid's been such a big problem. But if he hasn't picked up some more weight in a week or so, he may need a higher dose. In the meantime, maybe some egg yolks or custard might cheer him up.
Yeah, the vet did say it would take some time, but his levels have been pretty stable for nearly a month.
I hadn't thought about custard; he's getting lots of tuna and salmon, and we've started slipping him bits of chicken and steak when we have it, which is something we've never done with the cats. He eats a lot but is all bones, while the others are seldom seen at the kibble bowls but are, if anything, slightly overweight.
Fast forward to the sequel: Yup, she did it again on the final draft. Wow. WOW. That either takes a whole lot of stupid, or a set of steel balls. Well, she's about to reap what she's sown, I guess, eh?
Ergh. Sorry to hear Bailey's still poorly. Hmm. This is a longshot, but has the vet tested for diabetes? I know it causes all sorts of odd imbalances in cats.
If they graduate. *snort* "If" being the operative word.
it's probably some wacky combination of problems. Ergh. Probably. I'm sure you're happy with your vet and all, but I took a quick look around, and there's a couple cat-specific vets in the city, and it might be worth bending their ears for the specialist angle: The Calgary Cat Clinic and Killarney Cat Hospital were the first two that popped up.
