Bye, Bailey

I don't post often, and the last few posts have been mostly about my poor sick cat, Big Bad Bailey Buddy Boy (when I'm feeling alliterative) or my Sweet Babboo. Sadly, Bailey lost his struggle yesterday; he was scheduled for a test to try to figure out what was causing his weird symptoms, but he deteriorated quickly over the last few days, and by ( Read more... )

*hugs* I know how hard it is to lose a pet that has been a part of your life for such a long time.

The picture is darling.

Thanks for the hug. It really doesn't feel like that long, though, just 9 years. Should've been a long longer. And yes, that's such a lovely picture of him. I'm usually terrible at photo-taking, but I'm so glad that one turned out so well.

Bailey was a supreme ragdoll - what beautiful eyes, and those sweet mitts on his paws. Ragdolls are a favourite breed of mine, and I would have loved to meet Bailey.

He was a lovely ragdoll, wasn't he? I fell so in love with him -- not just his looks, but his temperament -- that I got two more ragdolls the next year. They're both just as beautiful: Darby is much like that pic of Bailey, except that he has an off-centre white mask instead of the sweet little diamond, and Toffee is chocolate-point, only a couple of white hairs on his chest. And both have the gorgeous sapphire-blue eyes. But neither one has quite the same ragdoll temperament. Bailey was very dog-like in his affections, following me around like a puppy, and was happy to sprawl in my lap like a teddy bear. Darbs and Toffee are too squirmy to do that.

I will miss his personality so much.

Thanks for the kind words. And I think he did have a good life, although right now that's very much tainted for me by the last few months. I keep thinking I could have done so much more, at least twigged sooner to the possibility that it wasn't something treatable. Poor little guy.

Oh, I'm so sorry. *hugs* He's beautiful, and from all you've said about him he sounds like he was a wonderful companion.

Thanks for the hug. He was beautiful, wasn't he? And he was a real companion, not just a pet. I'd feel awful if it were one of the others of my tribe, of course, but I always had a special bond with Bailey, and I don't think I'll ever have another cat quite like him.
