I think this is essentially why I hated country music as a kid (and still don't care for it).

it's difficult because I really love country music but I am definitely struggling with the homophobia in the industry.

I must say, when you first announced you were going to see Toby Keith I was surprised. He gave the Dixie Chix a LOT of shit about their anti-Bush statements back when that happened. A LOT of shit. I do like some country music (though I don't listen on the radio much anymore, just the CD's I have) but after all that happened, he sorta made my "shit" list.

From what I read several years ago, Garth Brooks (hope I have his name right), who I recall as a very handsome gent, is totally homo-friendly--I read that his sister or brother is Family.

I remember seeing something like 20-20 or like that where he was interviewed and he was saying that the South and country music isn't about homophobia and such...

I am glad that he is making a comeback!
