It would be impossible to miss a fire-breathing kitten, period. But sometimes very intelligent people can assume that everyone else is daft, so perhaps they think a small item like that would escape our notice.

Violence?

Well, I don't actually know how often she flames, but yes.

err Sometimes I have a tendency to hit people? But really, I have better control of my temper than to hit girls, I swear!

Corrie seemed to know right away when Spinach was breathing fire, so I reckon yours would have done so by now if was ever meant.

What is it with you blokes an- So long as you don't hit girls unlike Nick or anyone much younger and smaller than you. Everyone loses their temper at some point and I've slapped people before. What is it that usually makes you angry?

I swear I only hit people who deserve it. Like that fourth-year last year who was badmouthing the my sister. I had a black eye for a week after that, Cadoc had to dock points from us both. I dunno, though, some people just set me off. I'm better than I used to be.

That's your non-magical sister, yeah? I can't fault you for that as I go mental whenever people comment about my mum. I can have a quick temper but it's not a bad temper exactly unless someone does than. If that happens, I can't guarantee I won't slap or hex.

Yeah, that's her. Freddy gets annoyed that I do it, but I'm not about to let them get away with badmouthing her. Admittedly, other things can make me tick too; I won't try to deny that I have a fairly quick temper.

Yeah, my mum would probably rather that I didn't, but it's not like we think that they can't do it for themselves, you know? If you must get angry enough to punch someone, getting protective over someone in your family is one of the better reasons to do it for. And people shouldn't judge. It's just the discrimination that wizards have towards someone who is a little bit different to "normal," and Muggles do it as well for other reasons. Obviously they don't have werewolves or werewolves or Squibs, but they discriminate against different things, like someone not being able to speak or walk properly.

Even my parents are awful; she's at a school in Luxemburg under a different last name because it's "embarrassing" to have a Squib in the family. Wizards are awful about discrimination, though, starting at Hogwarts with all the house rivalry and then just getting progressively worse as we get older, to the point where our parents fought a war about it.

I'm sorry to hear that. It's bad enough for Mum but at least Dad and I are supportive of her. I can't imagine how hard it would be if you had those sorts of attitudes in your own home. At least she has you.

If you think about it, people who make remarks about Mum are really complementing her because if she hadn't stayed and fought, then she wouldn't have been attacked been made into one. So what they're really saying is that Mum is brave and looks out for her friends. I try to look on it that way but it's still hard.

I'm not sure why people are like that. Maybe one group just has to blame another for something, like how in Mum and Dad's day some purebloods would say that society had got bad from Muggleborns being allowed into Hogwarts, or something along those lines.

She handles it better than I do, although I've never been able to decide if she genuinely doesn't care or if she just hides it well.

It's definitely easier to say that than to actually believe it, but good on your mum.

I can't see people getting over it anytime soon, either, it's been an issue for so long it's more than habit to blame the 'other.'

That's true of my mum as well. Sometimes I think it bothers Dad and I more than it does her, which is a bit selfish.

Both my parents are very brave. I'd be lucky if I was half as much.

Yeah, it's just human nature or some crap like that. And if they did get rid of the group they thought was causing the problem, they'd just find someone else to blame, I reckon.

He might be alright. Few people could be worse than Jasper with his communism, much as I love him.

Oh THERE you are, Finchybird! Doesn't that badge look STUNNING on Yaxlington? Not as stunning as it would have looked on YOU, but sometimes we do have to settle for second best. Don't worry, you're still my favourite male Prefect!!
