Takoyaki pan

I am having roasted garlic and mashed potatoes tonight. While I was roasting the garlic, the bread man came. We don't have a convenience store in this town, but what could be more convenient than a dude showing up in your neighborhood playing a catchy bread jingle every monday night? Hm. I don't think I could live in Japan without some seriously intensive language study. It seems like I could eat stuff I was allergic to without even trying.

Yeah man, it's awful. I threw out any dietary restrictions I had at customs. They even got me drinking 200ml of milk at every school lunch. If you don't eat what everyone else eats, you don't eat. The stories the vegetarian ALTs tell are pretty frustrated and hard to believe at first. One of the teachers I help can't eat non-fish meats, (she says they hurt her stomach; that's about the extent of our mutual communicative ability) but when meat pops up in school dishes the just eats around it and puts it back in the pot at the end of lunch. I'm lucky to be allergic to only a few preservatives, and they dont need that sissy shit in this country, so no worries unless i pick up canned meat at the store. Which I won't.
