An opinion

I don't like it when heathens honor certain beings who are the enemies of the gods. These are the thyrses and other etins; destructive chaotic forces. I don't think I could blot, or symbel, or fain with someone who honors these beings. I believe people like this just want to be different, and to prove their differentness they honor unworthy beings ( Read more... )

I disagree with their practice, and I shun it.

And, likewise, those who don't agree with your practices shun you.

We usually call them Fundamentalist Christians, though.

Odd, that.

And if I were a fundamentalist heathen I probably wouldn't be honoring Roman gods either.

You're entitled to your oppinion but i want to clarify one thing: at Etinmoot no one was having sex while horsing. There was no public sex at Etinmoot (or any other ritual / gathering that I have attended run by Ironwood Kindred).

Horsing specifically refers to being possessed by Deity. period. The metaphor comes from Afro-Carribbean traditions where the idea is that a person is ridden like a horse by a Deity. That is all it implies.

public or not, having sex with people supposedly possesed by etins is utterly absurd and cringeworthy.

Yes, and my point is your information is wrong. Such a thing never occurred.

Sex is not part of the rituals conducted at Etinmoot. Possession does occur publicly and is treated as a very sacred thing. It does not include sex.
