It all started in Tuesday.  My skin itchs like fucking mad.  I've tried lotions, Eucerin and Lubriderm (both anti-itch forms), extremely hot showers.  And now someone has suggested Zantac, I have some and took it.  I don't know if it will help but it's worth a try.  I've tried benedryl too, it just helps me sleep.  I'm not sure if the cause is the ( Read more... )

Glad to hear that the reiki is at least helping you sleep.

Have you checked with a pharmacist about side-effects of the new medication? One of the things they can also help with is information about how long those kinds of things tend to last. Some side-effects are while your body's adjusting, and it can help to know that it's most likely a limited sort of thing. On the other hand, if it's more likely to be a long-term effect.....blergh. That might be where it'd be worth talking with your doc about whether it's worth staying on or if something else might help with that.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for that to go away quick. *hugs*

BTW, what do y'all have going on this weekend? It's been way, WAY too long since we got together.

The new med is delevered via IV. I don't get from the pharmacist, the infustion clinic does. I've had 2 doses, 2 weeks ago and the other 2 weeks before. I did email my doctor about the itchyness and I'm waiting to hear from her.

I'm not sure what's going on this weekend, but I'll check in with bloodstone and see if he has any plans.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that word from the doc is that it's transient and/or there's something else that can be done to alleviate the Itch o' Doom.

I checked and we don't have much going on except that bloodstone works Saturday morning (10-3pm). Other than that, we're pretty open. What did you have in mind?

Yeah, it could very well be a short-lived side-effect thing.

You might be able to find some info on this new med on the Internet if your pharmacist can't help you.

Did you get a printout with the prescription?

It might be one of those red-flag type of side effects, so it would probably be a good idea to find out, one way or another.

Have you tried Ouch Fix? (Silly, but it just might help.)

I sure hope it's a short-lived side-effect thing. I have emailed my doctor and she's good about getting back to me. This drug does have a side effect of a rash and that could be it but I'll wait until I hear from here. The next dose isn't due for 2 weeks. So there is time until I've given more.

I thought about Ouch Fix this morning but haven't tried it yet. I'll try some when I get home. I'm doing pretty well at the moment, I'm not sure if it's because I'm busy or the zantac is helping.

I hope the ouch fix works! At this point, I feel helpless watching you suffer (although I don't itch, so I can't complain). You seem pretty miserable.

I love you very much!

The ouch fix works slightly better than the other lotions. Distraction is the best way though.

You do help by reminding me not to scratch and I'm not just an itchy person. But remember, you have been itchy in the past.

I love you too!
