This TED talk brought tears to my eyes and lots of shame. We have to do better than this.

But how do you get others to care about this, besides sending them this video?

well it starts with you. I think every little bit help and maybe someone will see you at the gas station refilling your soda in a reusable bottle and will start doing that too. You know, lead by example.

I am pondering the same thing, how to get others to care. Would a mass emailing help? How can we change engrained behavior? People need to be educated about the fact that even though they think they recycle, it just doesn't happen. My in-laws have a fridge full of little bottles of juice, water, soda for their guests. I always refuse anything (except beer in a glass bottle:)) and drink tap water. baby stepts.

Good points. I know that a lot of people have noticed the grocery bags we use (never the store's), and that we bike and walk everywhere. But it's a fine line between spreading the word and becoming annoying to some people. I guess it takes time, but one idea is to make those actions seem normal, and not something extra you need to do.

I totally agree on not being annoying, it is a fine line. I think that's why I haven't done a mass emailing of the video.

I have seen a lot of people bring their own bag at various grocery stores. Then again, I shop mainly at hippie stores these days. But I have noticed that the cashiers at Target are more used to ppl bringing their own bag and that's a start. Now if we could get bottle to stop buying bottled water!
