The Trip That Almost Wasn't
I made it to Los Angeles this afternoon for the 2009 Microsoft TechEd conference. I've been sick and the trip (which I've wanted to do for several years now and things kept coming up) was in jeopardy because of it. Guerrilla Queer Bar!
I'm skeptical of most things the first time I hear them, and "Guerrilla Queer Bar" was no exception. Last night was the second such event. The concept is: every first Friday of the month, an e-mail goes out with info on a local straight bar. GBS: Weekend in Chicago
Several weeks ago I discovered the band Great Big Sea was playing in Chicago at the House of Blues. prisonbitch introduced them to me last year and I thought they were great, so I jumped on the opportunity and planned a quick weekend to see them and visit mikiedoggie.

Birthday Madness
In retrospect, I'm really glad I planned a trip to New York City the weekend before my birthday, and a trip to Chicago the weekend following my birthday. Because my actual birthday? Not that awesome.

Alabanza!
I had an interesting weekend in New York City. A great weekend, really. It was one of my favorite trips, hands down. But I cried a lot. Haha, not like bawling cries, but a lot of emo moments. More on that later.
