Thank you very much! I'm very complimented that you think this is a good response to the Amy/River femslash dilemma. I'm also happy that you appreciate Amy's mixed feelings about the entire River situation. You're right, Amy is still a little bit insulted by River laughing and patting her on the head. I'm sure she's never gotten that response from someone she attempted to kiss before. Even the Doctor. It certainly hurt her pride. (Is there even a small part of her that's relieved River's her daughter so that it doesn't reflect her seduction skills? Yep.) Poor very, very confused Amy.

This is simply hilarious xD. Poor poor Amy LOL. And major LOL @ Amy feeling insulted that River laughed at her.
It's so precious ^^.

I'm very pleased that you found this funny. Strangely enough, there was a point when I was writing this, where the dialogue wanted to turn it serious and I was like, "WTF are you doing? This is supposed to be funny! When discussing accidental near incest is not the time for a mother and daughter heart-to-heart about the intricacies and tragedy of time!" So I'm glad that came through in the end. And yes, poor Amy. She's lucky River handled it so well. I was wondering, when writing this: okay, so what would my reaction be in River's position? Yeah, if my mom-from-the-past tried to kiss me, I'd probably run screaming to the nearest shower. Obviously, River's more BAMF than me, so I tried to imagine what River would do. Especially if she had forewarning that it'd happen (from this conversation) and I thought: Well, River would do what she usually does when life throws her a curve-ball; she'd laugh! I'm sure Amy's ego was more than a little bruised by the affair, but once she has time to come to terms with all this, I expect she'll laugh ( ... )

It kills me that we'll probably never get a scene like this. I mean I understand that a children's show probably doesn't want to go into detail about retroactive incest but still, I definitely think both Amy and Rory will probably have to deal with thoughts like "Woah, I used to think my daughter was really sexy - Brain bleach please!" and I love how you've expressed her dealing with those thoughts here. It seemed very Amy, both her anger at no one stopping her and her well-that-was-stupid sort of sentiment that I imagine she's used in the past after getting really drunk or something ( ... )

I agree with you. There are some definite problems with time travel in this situation. Amy and Rory *both* interacted with River for a good deal of time not realizing they should see her as a daughter-figure. Instead, the most certain role she occupied was actually romantic-interest. Yes, for the *Doctor* but that means both of them saw her cast in a sexual-interest role. It's like when River made the screamer comment. That would have definitely been filed differently in their heads if they knew she was their *daughter*. And how could anyone be around River Song for two minutes and not think, "I'd hit that"? Like you said about Amy, I imagine she would be far better at shrugging it off and forgiving herself in the long run than compared to Rory. This might psychological scar the poor man ( ... )

Ahahahaha this is amazing. I love Amy and River so much, and this is so them. xD

"Other than very important and serious reasons like the integrity of time and the threat of a point of view paradox?" River shrugs. "The Doctor'll be cross and I only just got to second base."

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you believed in how I portrayed River and Amy here. I think, after the big reveal, the dynamic between the two of them is the one I am least sure about and was concerned about writing.

Ooh, I can feel the awkward embarrassment. In a good way, though; in the best way, definitely. Poor, poor Amy -- it's never simple, is it? <3

I'm happy that the . . . 'specialness' of their position came across well for you. I admit, this was a little difficult to balance, because I wanted to really play up that awkwardness, but not really go into the Truly Creepy zone. Poor Amy. I really hope she learns from this experience. Thank you for reading and replying!
