Sad News

As a`friend of cindershadow's for 23 years, it is my sad task to announce that she died this past Tuesday June 6, 2006. She was diagnosed with cancer less than a month ago, and the end came so quickly that she didn't have time to let everyone know. She was a life-long educator, reader, fan, and above all friend. Her family and friends want the LJ ( Read more... )

Thank you. I had heard the news 'through the grapevine', but I appreciate the "official" notification. I'm still tearing up occasionally; I can't imagine how much worse it is for close friends and family.

Extending a request here; feel free to disregard if I'm being too pushy. One little kernel of pain is that I don't even have a vague idea of what Cynthia looked like. Would it be possible to post a nice picture of her here on her LJ, so that her fandom friends have a face to put to the name?

Her family and friends want the LJ community to know how much joy you brought her. We know she will be missed.

The joy flowed both ways; we are all richer for having known her.

Thank you for stopping by.

Sadly, I didn't get to know her, but after reading the many posts about how much she meant to those on my LJ friends' list, I really wish I had had the time to do so.

She sounds like a WONDERFUL person.

I can only offer my condolences to you in your sorrow.

I'll just repeat what I said to another friend on LJ a few hours ago....

I have a half dozen e-mail conversations with her sitting in my in box, and I get teary when I look at them. We talked about teaching, about writing, about how much we hated grading. She was so enthusiastic about my stories, and she always propped me up after some rude comment had knocked the wind out of me. She was a great lady, and I ache for her RL friends and family and students who must be having such a horrible time with this. I was lucky to know her.

I'm speechless, and so sorry. Her journal was a joy.

Oh my god. I am so sorry to hear that. She was such a bright and pleasant presence, with a generous heart and a lot of love to give. She's going to be missed.

Is her horse being taken care of? Can we in the Lipizzan community help?

Dear dancinghorse

Cynthia's two horses now belong to her wonderful trainer and stable owner, with sufficient funds to take care of them. You may be sure that the first thing that she made took care of when she heard the diagnosis is that her horses and cat (I have Courtney) will be well taken care of. But bless you for worrying about this. MLL
