Hearing the little kids run around the house singing in deep, sonorous Ben Folds voices, "Oiiiiii am, Oiiiiiiii am, Oiiiiiiiii am, the Luckiest."

When I write, I like it to be in a still moment, when all of my senses are attuned as delicately as possible to the world around me. (There is an inexplicable but very real link, at least for me, between sensory functionality and poetry.)
