Maybe...4? 5? not many, I don't think...but then, a girl overheard me say "it takes a brick in my window for me to recognize when someone likes me" and she showed up the next day with a ribbon-wrapped brick, so there ya go.

6, I can still remember all of their names: Wendy, Mara, Kari, Maria, Jessica, and Teresa.

Four... maybe five.
Don't think I'll never know about the fourth.
And I'm another "have to be hit by a brick" person...

How do I judge?
Judge whether the person loved me?
mostly being told... but this person (who was actually the third)... we never told each other we loved each other... but we knew...
and it was scary, which was why we broke it off.

This is hard to sort through...more have said it than meant it, I think. I'll go with five, and trust that they all thought it was true at the time.

see, the most interesting part of the answer isn't the number, it's how it's qualified.

Indeed. For example, my high school boyfriend was "in love" with me, but is anyone really in love when they are 16?
A guy I dated a few years ago told me he was in love with me on our third date. That's not love in any meaningful sense, either.
I am not even sure I could give a straight answer to the reverse question.

Wow, this is hard. Do I go with the ones who said it, or the ones who showed it? And I, too, suffer from the brick syndrome...
