So, I was sitting around playing video games yesterday (what a shock), hanging out with My house mates, and listening to tune-skis. And it hit me, surviving is really easy. I mean it's really easy. Right now I'm the most laid back I've ever been in my life, but I'm also completely self sufficient. I'm paying for everything that I'm using, I'm

Yes. For you are a white male. This counts for a lot more than you'd think.
Also, you don't have to pay your loans off yet. And, you are currently living in a community that makes it really easy to survive. I'd argue that at least two things that are essential to surviving comfortably, a job and people to share a house with, have come from UPS. It gets harder once that community is scattered. Not to mention the fact that Tacoma is cheaper to live in than Seattle....

Ouch. It always hurts me when people say things like that. To me, as with a lot of people of color, race is always an issue. I don't want it that way, I don't make it that way, it simply is. It's not as bad for me as for others because I can pass for white, but the fact is that I will always be a brown person. Every time someone looks at me, they'll wonder what I am. You can't just discard something like that.
It sucks that I can't explain it better than that, or get you to understand without pissing you off, so i'll just end it here and hope we can have a conversation about it some other time.

By far the quickest way to go into debt (save for college loans, but at least those you can defer) is to get yourself some kids.
So when (presumably) older people are talking about how hard life is, and how it's tough to make ends meet, they're really talking about what a financial drain children are.
Of course, these are usually the same people who'll say in a condescending manner intended to insult your limited life experience, "When [not IF] you have a family...."
