primeval100 challenge 312: Deadline. Follows Gold, Asylum and Angels and Demons, but all you really need to know is that poor old Connor is trapped in medieval England and not enjoying it very much.
The Pyre
They burned witches at dawn.
Connor stared miserably out of the tiny window in his cell. He could just see out into the courtyard where a sobbing woman had been tied. He'd always assumed that burning would be fairly quick.
It wasn't.
He looked away, but couldn't block out the screams that got weaker and hoarser. And the smell. God, the smell.
His trial had been a farce, just being so different was enough to condemn him. Later they would rebuild the pyre, and tomorrow he'd be out there.
If Becker was coming to save him he'd need to hurry.
