There must be more to it, but... we have no means of finding answers for what you ask, other than those responsible, and they are hardly forthcoming with answers.

...I don't know where else to look, Balthier.

...It seems I've been remarkably good at asking questions but not tracking down answers.

Is that the sound of her majesty losing hope?

You can't do everything, Balthier. The questions are posed, and they will bring people to wonder. That is a starting point in itself.

... No, it's the truth. But I refuse to believe we are simply here to play puppets for the entertainment of those... people.

Indeed, but what sort of man am I if I do nothing?

Perhaps that is not so far from the truth. But to what ends do they tug our strings?

Not a clue, although I'm guessing not for any reason we'd be especially happy about.

No, indeed not, or perhaps they'd be more willing to shed some light on our situation.

And as far as I know, that's never been something they've been willing to do.

One thing that has been bothering me... exactly how short of food are we now?

Indeed not. Pulling teeth from a live Saurian is easier work then getting them to reveal any truth.

It's bad, but the odd thing is, we never seem to run out completely.

...There's a food shortage?

Do we look as though we've been dining on roast cockatrice and the fruits of mandragora?

Well that's bad news. I could eat more than any five people here and it wouldn't hit bottom.

I'm starving.

You're in for a long haul then, sorry to say.

Where have they been hiding all this time, anyway, if there's been no evidence of them until now?

clean_cuffs February 4 2009, 18:42:21 UTC
Wouldn't we all love to know.

Ugh. It's disgusting how little we're able to do here when there's no information.

An understatement. Many have been trapped a year. You'd think we'd have learned something by now.

Hmph. Would not surprise me in the slightest.

And I quite agree. Can't do that sort of thing without at least candlelight, fine silks and a relaxing bath beforehand. Gods only know what sort of venereal diseases that would crop up.

maybe they just want to fuck with us. if more people started liking this place they might actually make it nice to spite them, right?

I believe that's what some intend to do. Rebuild and live their lives here, that is.

Nothing wrong with high standards.
