So, as of today my language course is done! It's a little strange to think I've been in Germany for almost a month now. It certainly doesn't feel like it. It's that weird, in-between state of "but I just got here!" and "I feel like I've been here forever..." Just a quick update.
Not too terribly much to report-- only that I have less than a week left living in the Studentensiedlung in Freiburg. I'll be sad to leave my friends behind when I leave, but I'll also be glad to stop being a regular at Starbucks for my internet fix. I had my weekend in the Black Forest with my host family. It was quite nice, even though when I got there I was suddenly introduced to a whole bunch of new people, many having rather thick accents that were difficult to understand. All right, so I've officially been in the dorms at Uni Freiburg for just over one week. The whole no-internet thing extremely sucks, and German keyboards turn me around because of all the swapped keys and additional umlaut keys and so on. In spite of me being pretty tired, the last couple days have been rather full of interesting things. 3 days.
Over the course of the next three days, I somehow have to fit my life into a 50-pound-limit suitcase and two carry-ons. As a result of this, I've been mostly packing clothes that are nicer than what I usually wear. Already I know how I'm going to be living differently, and I haven't even left yet. Cross-country adventure time.
I've been on a trip to Ohio to see family since Tuesday with mom and mach_spass. In this time period, I have made several observations:
-If I ever decide to become a junkie, for whatever reason, I will have to use pediatric needles because I have rather tiny veins.
