Just a quick note to let everyone know that after 11-1/2 years of marriage, the wife and I are separating. I thought we had things going pretty good for us, but I also knew that our personal relationship had been lacking (ie: growing apart) for quite some time now. I really want to make things work out, but she thinks we'll actually be happier

I'd give her some time to experience change... but work on getting to know yourself again. Wanting change is understandable but perhaps she'll find the world isn't so great without you to share it with... or not.
I'm not a romantic so I can only be realistic about it ... sorry.
Just get out, see some friends, love your children ... do some living of your own.

i'm sorry to hear about the breakup... i'd offer advice but i'm hardly old enough to know anything about that long of a commitment.
but you do seem to have a good outlook about the future... get back in touch with old friends, make new ones, do more of the things you like to do. that always helps after a breakup.
