About that Show....

Hi y'all!

The home computer decided to have hardware issues on the weekend so I didn't get a chance to update. Thanks for the questions about it (you know who you are!).

It went really well. The day was bright - not quite warm but not the frigid it's been for months - which was a good thing because people were out walking around. After this long ( Read more... )

Glad the show went well for you! I am really looking forward to more photos of your jewelry. How long, in general, does it take you to do a commission? Do you keep a waiting list?

Yes! the show was great. It really depends on the commission. I have a few where people are not in a rush - "need it by July" - or "mother's day". I had one fellow who needed something -this week cause OMG his wife's birthday and the one he saw at the show was sold- lol. I did something last night I hope he'll like it.. so it was a OMGNEEDITNOW thing.
:D

I'd say about 2 weeks or so, sometimes less. Shipping though adds a few days for people to recieve it. right now I've got... oh. hm. 5 or 6 in the queue. I finished a key one last night. Working on 2 brooches tonight (might take about 3 days for them). I have a Necklace to do... Then the Mother's Day set and the one for July (not quite rushes).

I suspect it will only get busier as the year crawls on. We'll see what happens around November - when xmas comes close. I might just go crazy then. :D

btw, i like your icon. My brother owns a few horses - he cowboys and does stunt work. :D

I am glad the show went well. I have sympathy for the computer problems. Mine are software related. I hope you get yours resolved soon.

I have been wearing my pin to work on my uniform. It will show up great on navy, too. It looks good on my jeans jacket and my gray wool blazer, too. I will not wear it on anything delicate.

Sorry about the computer problem. I hate it when that happens.

I'm glad the show was a success.

it must have been inspirational

This morning at 6:30 I woke up and knew what to do for the pendant with the horse... I had something lined up already but... suddenly My Head Exploded (in a good way!). I took apart what I started and started to remake it... didn't get to far but already I'm all excited!

I'll have some photos in a day or two.

I'm all excited. Knew you would do something spectacular; don't ask me how but I just knew it.

Yes.. i'm much happier with the idea I've got now. And i've "framed out" your own. found some nice pieces. how old is your daughter btw? I want to do something really nice - is she a "girly girl"? Does she like flowers? Just wondering. I have these pieces that look like brass flower shapes.. not really.. but anyway, I'll have some "previews" for you soon...then you can see if you like X with Y etc.

I'm excited that you did well at the show. I enjoy the commission process myself, and it tends to be better for word-of-mouth advertising.

Speaking of, I would like to ask for a few commissions myself when you get some time...

I found that the act of making a purchase was really disorganized. I had to be pointed to the owner; he didn't know the price (and just took my word for it, although I was honest). And, as I paid cash, I'm not sure that any record was made of the sale. I didn't get a receipt or see him write anything down. Hopefully the artist got her share.

I wore the origami pendant against a dark blue velvet blouse today, and it looked stunning. Am looking forward to your piece, as well!

Yes that was a mess. If I ever do something with the gallery again I'm going to make certain it will be a more streamlined process. I suspect that Ben was shocked by the turn out - he said he'd not done a jewelry show in years.

That origami pendant was really lovely. I have chatted with the creator - she's a great person. We were both "gee, i don't know how you can work with something so tiny...". lol.
