I do like C.S. Lewis. He's not very fashionable as a critic anymore (I think), but he's passionate about reading and devoted to the books he writes about!

I confess I found this quotation flitting about the internet and liked it; I assume anyone writing earlier than c. 30 years ago isn't that fashionable, if lit crit is anything like history. :'D

I hope so! And I did like this quotation - it speaks to me, although I wouldn't necessary specify 'great literature', since all literature gets you out of your own head for a while.
