Today's fun in The City involved tracking down a Crocs outlet (we followed Seanan's directions and were told she was washing her hands of me if I failed to find the place. We found it easily but did consider 'phoning her to say we were lost and could she talk us through the details again....{g})
Unfortunately, while the place had a good range of colours and sizes (plus unexpected items like Crocs kneepads and kneeling pads, mobile 'phone holders etc) it didn't have any orange or purple ones in my size. They informed us that Crocs have started theming the colours they put out by seasons (Spring is pastels, apparently) so we'd have to either mail order or shop around for places that have stocks left of the colours I wanted in my size.... I was, however, buoyed up by having a random stranger stop me to compliment my shoes (cheap plain white canvas plimsoles fabric-painted to match my yellow and orange tie-dye trousers, T-shirt and socks), and deamnding details when i told him they were bought shoes I'd coloured myself.
Luckily, on the Crocs front, we went into Maceys (because, along with Bloomingdales and Sears) it's one of the few American stores I'd heard of) and they had bright orange Crocs in my size in the mens shoe department - result!
Next we headed down Market to Castro and, after grabbing an unfeasibly large lunch for Tom at a little Mexican.... erm... "greasy-spoon" spent some time wandering in and out of a variety of shops (no purple Crocs, but was tempted by a T-shirt which read "People think I have ADD but it's really just.... Oh look a bunny-rabbit!" which seemed designed for me, except that it wasn't on a bright enough coloured shirt for me).
After that, it was back to Concord, a brief trip to Safeway for the last bits for Tom's summer and back to the house to collapse (I should do some sewing).
Tomorrow, We'll kill part of the day back in the city, before heading to Downtown Berkley to go to Stone Mountain and Daughter (
http://www.stonemountainfabric.com/ ) before meeting Seanan to go to a comic shop and... {tired brain fails to supply names}... to go see a Jackie Chan film.
Saturday, we go see Beckett (we meet at last - Yay!!) and Paul, and I get access to five year old twins and get access to Beckett's stash.
Monday evening we meet up with
kevin_standlee and
cherylmmorgan and go off to the BASFA meet, which apparently takes place at a restaurant.
So, our dance-card is filling rapidly.for the remaining, six days before we head to CostumeCon
