I sort of think some of the comments I made earlier on contestant's first entries could be taken as passive aggressive, arrogance or common asshattery. I was going to use my space and time to apologize if anyone thought that of me. I think we all could be better, strive for more in our writing and I am absolutely in that global boat. My next

When in doubt, ask a question :) I'm with you - I have strong opinions about people's work, but I'm also trying to be sensitive to tone (and to the fact that I don't know anyone here personally). So I tend to take my initial thought, something like "Rethink your ability to punctuate, because my friend, that is abuse of the comma right there" and phrase it as, "What if you used fewer commas and more definite punctuation to separate your thoughts?". And then they can consider it, or think "No, that's not going to work for me."
